    Meaning:
To keep the lines of your fate clean, it’s important to do the right deeds, just like the gold needs to go through the fire for it to be pure and clean, similarly ignorance will disappear with the light of wisdom. For if you fall for the traps of the world, you will lose yourself, but if you stay under his grace, you will reap rich rewards of his kindness.

What is the point of getting entangled in the world, when it’s all going to end? For the life we live and the air we breathe is all so unpredictable and is a debt we bear. Rather fuel your true journey, with prayers, as He only is permanent and most valuable.

Why waste our precious lives talking to the lesser beings when the same can be used to talk to Him. For only prayers for Him is most sensible and meaningful use of your time. Everything else is a lie and so just overcome the myths and discard your mental baggage, as it blocks you from being one with Him. Whichever soul follows this path, his journey is smooth, like the flow of water, and God Himself leads him to the light.

    Title: Banjara

Gori sove sej par mukh par daare kes,
Chal khusro ghar aapne saanjh bhayi chahun des,

Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara,
Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara,
    Kahan talaashein thour thikaanaa,

Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara
Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara
    Kahan talaashein thour thikaanaa
Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara

Darbadar sa kahan bhatke rooh ka tukda,
    Pehen ke roj pachhaso dukhdaa,
Tu vi kaisa naasamajh hai samajh na paaye,
    Mujhko kaun sa bhaaye mukhdaa,
Do chhor pe dono ore khade is intazaar mein is intazaar mein,
Sanson ke beech hairaan dil, baithaa kataar mein, baithaa kataar mein,
Banaaye roj roj bigaade, kaisi ghalti mitaata hai,

Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara,
Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara,
    Kahan talaashein thour thikaanaa
Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjaraaa

Paani gaara maati dhuaan ye tan hai chithadaa chithadaa saara,
Padh padh pothi gyaani aisaa hua bus kamaaya kachadaa.
Jaise til mein tel hai jyon, chakmak mein aag,
Khuddkaa saayin khuddmein hai, jaag sake to jaag,
Ghatataa safar tooti naav par is beech dhaar mein, is beech dhaar mein,
Apnon ke beech bejaan dil, biktaa udhaar mein, biktaa udhaar mein,
Basaaye roj roj ujaade, kaisi marzi chalaata hai,

Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara,
Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara,
    Kahan talaashein thour thikaanaa
Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara

Tu vi banjara, main vi banjara
    Kahan talaashein thour thikaanaa
Tu vi banjara te saajan main vi banjara, banjara, banjara!

    Context:
The song is a spiritual conversation by an enlightened one to a human being stuck in the regular rut of life.

    Song's Meaning:

Opening lines talk of the separation of a lover as the down breaks from his beloved, for its time for the world to go to sleep (written by Ameer Khusro, the Indian Saint, when his beloved teacher, his guiding light Hazrat Nizamuddin died).

Nothing in the world is stays forever; everything that has come will go. The only constant thing in this world is impermanence, for what has come, has to go. While most beings spend their lives building a home, looking for a secure life and family to live in, the fact is everything is temporary. For life is a cycle of constant construction and destruction, way beyond human control.

This physical body that clothes our soul is very fragile. To secure it, human beings spend their lives garnering material wealth and comforts, which in turn bring along so much suffering and pain. For all the materials in this world can’t help you get inner peace or show you the path to “The One”. While the air we breathe keeps us going, it is only a matter of time, our bewildered hearts will stop beating , as we are all in one big queue to meet the maker. The path is already set, and all we do in life, is create stumbling blocks, that makes the journey difficult.

At the end of it all if we realize that our bodies are just a mix of elements like earth, water and air. And that all the knowledge in the world cannot lead us to the true meaning of life… that the true happiness lies within us. No impermanent vehicle in life can help us sail through the oceans of our existence smoothly, to sail smoothly till the end, it is imperative that we surrender to the Almighty and let him guide our souls. Thinking that we control our destinies is foolishness; we can’t create or destroy anything, all that happens is a matter of his will.

Chaddh de murakh moh jagat Da, Chaddh de murakh moh,

Chaddh de murakh moh jagat Da, Chaddh de murakh moh,

    Meaning:
The Poet is imploring to all beings, to not fall for the worldly traps. For life is like loose sand, that will flow away without any warning in the endless wide ocean of impermanence. When we know that the end of this journey will have to be done alone and empty handed, what is point of dying for desires and planning for them each day?

The end is inevitable and hence your space is predefined...for you will, either be burnt to ashes and hence become part of the air or, be buried and hence will become part of this earth...one day.

Poet quotes the great Saint and poet, Sant Kabirdas, “since we know the end is inevitable, we must use this time to sow good deeds. For when we came to this earth as a new born, everyone laughed and we cried...but when we undertake our final journey, the world must miss us for the plethora of good that we would have done...while we enjoy our communion with The One”.

    Madari Madari!

    Meaning:
I am a puppet in your hands for nothing ever moves without your wish. Life is nothing but the music you play and I am dancing to your tunes. You hold the source of all life and all its various colors...happiness or sadness.

All beings seek the almighty at sacred places, while I know my love...the almighty, a seeker can find you anywhere!

My soul is now craving for the union, but it is only possible... if you wish. You can make the impossible, possible!

I am happy just the way you want me to be, in dearth or abundance. I cannot control the distance or speed that I will live my life with, and hence I surrender to your kindness...for I am a puppet in your hands.

    Title: Mauje Naina

    "You think I'm crazy,
    but I'm not.
    When I close my eyes,
    The lights go off.

    Lie awake in my bed,
    Your secrets in my head.

    you think I'm crazy,

Mauje naina milke , Maujey naina milke
Mauje naina milke , Maujey naina milke
Mauje naina milke , Maujey naina milke
Mauje naina milke , Maujey naina milke

Kaai ka jharnaa hai, Masla ghinaunaa hai,
Maujey naina milke , Maujey naina milke
Dil kaa khilaunaa hai, har dil ka rona hai,
Mauje nainan milke, Maujey naina milke

Ankhyaan thagaa gayin, Behudi fansaa gayin,
    Maatam manaate hain chainaa,
Pinjarey ko tod ke, galtiyaan batore ke,
Kyun tadfadaati hai mainaa, bus karo na,

    I just point the way,
    Watch you go down.
    Like a sure refrain,
    You come around

    Lie awake, unprepared,
To still the madness in my head

    Don’t think I'm crazy,
    I'm not!

    When I close my eyes
    The lights go off

Pokhraa inaari dooba sab khayaal jabse russeyaa,
kyun jiya sahararatan bewajah yun aadatan fansyaa,
kya bhalaa buraa, murkh maajraa, ji ka rona, dhona, khatam bhi karo na,
    Dil kareyga dil ki chaakhree,

Mauje naina milke , Maujey naina milke
Mauje naina milke , Maujey naina milke
Mauje naina milke , Maujey naina milke
Mauje naina milke , Maujey naina milke

Baaloo hai sona hai, pichkaa fulaonaa hai,
Maujey naina milke , maujey naina milke
Semar ka dona hai, footaa bhagaunaa hai,
Mauje nainan milke, maujey naina milke

Affnaati dhaar mein, khar pattwaar pe,
    Cheekhe fatingey ki behnaa,
Ant ke toofan se, maut ke ufaan mein,
Ladti hai sanson ki senaa, bus karo na,

I love the games we play
    This cat and mouse
    Build your house of cards
    I burn it down

Like the muzzle I can't restrain,
You breathe a fire in my veins

    You think I'm crazy

    Meaning:
The Poet has beautifully contained the free nature of eyes into this poem, summarizing the fact that as much as they are free to roam the world...they will always remain contained in one frame...just like life that is controlled by someone above.

He says no matter what goes on in life, I (eyes/conscience) am always awake, taking account of every step/deed of your life. As life is an unstoppable cycle, eyes always hunt for all that a heart desires, most times, the pursuit of those desires give us pain and misery...taking away our peace of mind. But we remain a prisoner to our heart... stuck with unreasonable habits and hence, always restless.

The body is after all, a temporary vehicle, the fuel of which is going to run out soon. Everything that has come will go, no matter how much fight we put up...the end is inevitable!

We are just puppets playing our parts and no matter how much we conquer, attain and build...nothing will go along in the final journey of life.

    Title: Dungar

From the ends of the earth I call to you,
Call as my heart grows faint,
From the ends of the earth I call to you, when my heart is overwhelmed,
Lead me, Lead me, lead me to the rock,
Lead me, lead me, lead me to the rock that is higher than I,
Higher than I, higher than I,

    Dungar Dukh na de,
    Adaa de,
    Pand pachadi aaya.

Lead me, Lead me, lead me to the rock,
Lead me, lead me, lead me to the rock that is higher than I,

Laaloon Laal lafit je, Bhalom jaani Khan miya

    Dungar Dukh na de,
    Adaa de,
    Pand pachadi aaya
    Bhalo Miya adda
    Dungar Dukh na de,
    O miya,

    Meaning:

The song is a beautiful amalgamation of spiritual love with that of the earthly love legends of Sassi and Punnu, a tragic folktale of unfulfilled romantic destiny of “Sassi”, a daughter of a king of Bhamboor (who was abandoned right after birth by her parents, but was later found and adopted by a washer man of this same village) and “Punnu”, who was the son of king from Baluchistan.

Poet says just as Sassi called for her love from one end of the mountain that separated the two called “Dungar” to reach out to her husband and love Punnu, after they were separated right after their marriage, I call you, my lord, from this earth, as I am awake and have tasted the pleasure of your love. I implore you to take my soul to a higher plane...for I am tired of this petty existence and the pain of this separation from you. I long to live in your peaceful abode and sing in your praise.

The Poet says I have seen the world and its devious ways, I want to take the journey to you, no matter how tough it is, just as Sassi undertook the arduous journey from one end of the village to the other and walked for miles before she breathed her last in her pursuit of love. All I request is for you to help ensure that no obstacle ever hampers my journey to you...my Lord...my love.

Clinton Cerejo reinterprets this traditional Manganiar folk song and who better to do it with than Sawan Khan. This song is a tribute to man’s biggest saathi, his most reliable partner, God. It’s about the constant tussle between positive & negative thoughts that man goes through everyday. And about trusting completely in the higher force and putting your best foot forward everyday.

Clinton reworks the original and scales it up through a sublime western arrangement.

    Song Info

This song is about man’s eternally wandering spirit & the spirit’s constant search for peace & happiness. It’s about man getting caught up in everyday travails and losing sight of the bigger picture; his larger calling his hidden potential. To do justice to these potent thoughts, Lyricist Manoj uses a verse by Amir Khusro as the alaap. Clinton takes these loaded lyrics and mixes them with a funky melody, embedding it in a pop/funk groove.

    Song Info

An introspective song, Chaddh De flows like a river. The song is about letting go of desires. It talks about how futile it is to fret over desires or wants when your time on earth is limited. It’s about the futility of trying to control life when everybody’s place is preordained and nothing one does can ever change that.

It was written by Lyricist Manoj during a low & depressive phase of his life. The lyrics literally mean ‘oh fool let go’ (of your desires). Clinton includes a remarkable string section in this song with the cello playing a prominent role.

Clinton takes the word ‘Madari’ literally & builds this playful track around the Madari himself. The song goes on to insinuate that the turn of destiny in a man’s life also happens thanks to the Madari’s all-knowing damru. With a strong percussive arrangement, this song talks about how no situation in life is in our control and we can only play along with the almighty, i.e. the Madari.

    Song Info

Mauje Naina is a dark song sung by a man who cheats on his wife. In this song he sings about his new lover and his feelings for her, all the while torn by those very feelings. He describes her irresistible aura and how she’s playing with his heart & emotions. The female vocals however are very seductive and attempt to entice the man. This sensuality is evenly matched by the helplessness & doubt in the male vocals. The dhol section takes centre stage in this haunting track.

    Song Info

This song is about the legendary star crossed lovers, Sassi & Punnu. They live in separate villages on two sides of a mountain, i.e. the dungar. Sassi then sings to the dungar to ensure there are no obstacles in her path as she wants to cross over right away & is dying to meet her lover. Through this song, Clinton almost magically marries two very different styles of music, i.e. Sawan Khan and the Gospel Choir. In fact, Clinton uses a 31-piece choir to give this song a genuine Gospel vibe.
